Sun 03 May 2020:

Bangladesh reported 665 new coronavirus cases on Sunday — the largest single-day increase since the outbreak was first reported in the country on March 8, the country’s state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) said.

The densely populated South Asian nation has so far reported 9,455 cases and 177 deaths, the BSS reported, citing a senior health department official.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday held a video conference call with officials from 56 districts across the country on the coronavirus situation, according to the BSS.

During the call, the prime minister announced several stimulus packages and steps to combat the fallout from the pandemic, in addition to directing the officials to take steps to contain the virus in their areas.
