An FIR has been filed against the editor-in-chief of Zee News, Sudhir Chaudhary on Thursday, 7 May. The FIR is reportedly filed in Kerala under non-bailable sections.

News reports say that the FIR accused Chaudhary of ‘presenting a programme that is offending the Muslim religion’. It can be mentioned here that, in an hour-long show DNA (Daily News & Analysis) anchored by Zee News Editor Sudhir Chaudhary dedicated a part of the show to explain the ‘Jihad’ and its different types.

Mr. Chaudhary elucidated the different parts and types of ‘Jihad’ through a chart which he called the ‘Jihad Chart’. For the same episode, he was highly criticized by many. The content was also found plagiarised.

Sudhir Chaudhary took the FIR to twitter to say that it is his ‘Pulitzer Prize for reporting the truth’. He further wrote, “This is the price for daring to speak against #ZameenJihad in Jammu, #LoveJihad in Kerala, PFI funding of CAA protests, and for daring to enter Shaheen Bagh. I have all the respect for the law but these tactics won’t stop me. Bring it on!”

According to Activist Kavita Krishnan, Secretary of the All India Progressive Women’s Association, “Indian media is not doing is journalism. In fact, very few people are doing journalism today. Channels from Zee News, Aaj Tak to Network18 like to add the word ‘jihad’ to everything. Corona jihad or zameen jihadlove jihadarthik jihad, and whatnot. But if anyone is waging a holy war today, it is Indian media’s jihad against Indian Muslims and Islam”.
