LONDON, UK : Hundreds of people marched through central London on July 05, 2020 to protest against the Saudi-led coalition conducting airstrikes in Yemen, and the EU countries selling weapons to the coalition.

The protesters gathered in front of BBC marched to 10 Downing Street, the resident of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, demanded the European Union countries and the UK government stop arming the Saudi-led coalition.

The demonstrators, carrying Yemeni flags and signs such as “Free Yemen”, “Sopt the war” chanted “Save Yemen”, “Stop arming Saudi” during the protest organized by the Stop the War coalition.

One of the protesters said “I’m here on behalf of Yemen to raise awareness for the humanitarian crisis that is going on right now.”

Yemen has been beset by violence and chaos since 2014, when Houthi rebels overran much of the country, including the capital Sanaa.

The crisis escalated in 2015 when a Saudi-led military coalition launched a devastating air campaign aimed at rolling back Houthi territorial gains.

Tens of thousands of Yemenis, including civilians, are believed to have been killed in the conflict, which has led to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis as millions remain at risk of starvation.
