MOROCCO, HUNGARY SIGN MOU TO BOOST TRAINING IN NUCLEAR INDUSTRY

Morocco and Hungary on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the fields of training and education in the nuclear industry, within the framework of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

The Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines and Environment announced in a statement that the agreement was signed with the Hungarian Ministry of Innovation and Technology.

According to the statement, Moroccan Energy Minister Aziz Rabbah and Hungarian Ambassador to the Kingdom Miklos Trumpler presided over the agreement’s signing ceremony.

 

The statement explained that the Memorandum of Understanding: “Aims to facilitate the establishment of a long-term cooperation regarding the applications of nuclear science and technology, education and training between Morocco and Hungary.”

“The two sides will work closely on developing cooperation programmes in training and education, particularly in developing basic and applied research, nuclear science and technology, and the legal framework for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy,” the statement added.

The agreement stipulates: “Commercial cooperation between suppliers of goods and services in the two countries, and developing exchange programmes for students, university professors, and doctoral graduates between Moroccan and Hungarian universities.”

The TRIGA Mark 2 reactor is one of the largest nuclear facilities in Morocco, contributing to research and training activities related to nuclear medicine, industrial applications and radioactive waste management.

Morocco has also become a training centre in the field of regulatory supervision of research reactors in North Africa and other regions.
