SECOND WAVE OF COVID-19: MAJOR EUROPEAN NATIONS REPORT NEW CASES

New fatalities and coronavirus cases were reported across major European nations Saturday.

UK

At least nine new fatalities from the virus were reported, bringing the country’s death toll to 41,623, according to the Health Ministry.

Another 3,497 infections were registered in the past 24 hours, bringing that number to 365,174.

France

At least 17 deaths in hospitals and 10,561 new cases were reported in France, according to a statement by health authorities.

The death toll reached 30,910 and the number of cases climbed to 373,911.

Italy

Italy registered 1,501 new virus cases, bringing its tally to 286,297, said health authorities.

The death toll rose to 35,603 as six more people died from the virus. The number of recoveries stands at 213,191.

Across the world, COVID-19 has claimed more than 917,100 lives in 188 countries and regions since December.

The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.

More than 28.5 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 19.2 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
