Sat 13  August 2022:

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced on Thursday that individuals with tourist visas to the Kingdom can now perform Umrah while they are there.

The ministry noted that those qualified for e-visas can also receive a tourist visa upon their arrival at airports in the Kingdom. Citizens of 49 countries who can apply for a tourist visa online would benefit from the service.

The ministry also said that holders of US, UK and Schengen visas also qualify to perform Umrah while visiting Saudi Arabia, adding that people who hold family visit visas can also apply to perform Umrah while in the Kingdom by applying through the Eatmarna app.

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia removed barriers that were placed around the Kaaba just in time for Umrah season.

The barriers were erected as part of the Kingdom’s precautionary measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Saudi Arabia has spent billions of dollars organizing one of the largest religious gatherings in the world throughout the years.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s economic reform plan intends to enhance the capacity of Umrah and Hajj to 30 million pilgrims annually and to produce $13.32 billion (50 billion riyals) in income by 2030.
