American military aid to Beirut is believed to have surpassed $2 billion since 2005
The U.S. delivered six unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the Lebanese Armed Forces on Wednesday as part of a military grant.
In a statement, the Lebanese army confirmed receipt of the drones at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri international airport.
The UAVs were granted to Lebanon as part of an $11-million U.S. military aid package.
In February, the U.S. delivered laser-guided rocket kits worth a total of $16 million to the Lebanese army.
During 2017 and 2018, the U.S. delivered six A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft to Lebanon’s military.
U.S. assistance to the Lebanese army is believed to have surpassed $2 billion since 2005, making the U.S. one of the Lebanese military’s top financial contributors.
