Wed 21  December 2022:

The tech giant Apple has added its M1-powered Mac desktop lineup to its self-service repair program in the US.

According to The Verge, customers can now obtain authentic repair parts for the iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio.

On the company website, users can browse a collection of repair manuals for each of these items and consult them if they want to use the self-service repair program.

The program is only recommended for people who are comfortable carrying out these repairs, which include a number of procedures, require for the use of sophisticated tools, and can take a considerable amount of time.

The cost of some parts might discourage users from repairing, if what they see in the instructions does not intimidate them.

Studio Display has also been added to the programme, the report said.

The tech giant listed the nano-texture display replacement as $967.12, which comes down to $879.12 after users return their original broken screen.

The tool kit rental is priced at $49.00, though users can get a refund for that after returning everything.

Customers who received a Studio Display with the matte option initially are not permitted to request a glossy replacement display, and vice versa.

In August, Apple launched its self-service repair program for the most recent iPhone models.
