Mon 04 November 2024:
An autopsy conducted by Israeli forensic doctors found that Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar had not eaten for three days before his assassination on 16 October.
According to Israel Hayom, the report said: “The results of the autopsy of Yahya Sinwar’s body showed that he did not eat anything during the last 72 hours before his death.”
Chen Kugel, director of Israel’s national forensic institute, revealed that one of Sinwar’s fingers was removed to obtain a DNA sample for identification due to his prior imprisonment and existing medical record.
Moreover, Kugel stated that Sinwar had initially survived for several hours but ultimately succumbed to severe brain damage caused by a gunshot wound.
Many noted the details as evidence that Israel’s actions had contributed to a “war of starvation” in Gaza, and countered claims that Hamas members were diverting humanitarian aid or food for themselves.

Sinwar was appointed leader of Hamas’ political bureau in August, a week after the assassination of his predecessor Ismail Haniyeh in a “Zionist raid” while he was on an official visit to Iran.
Israel views Sinwar as the mastermind behind the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood Operation’ carried out by Palestinian factions, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, against Israeli settlements and military bases near Gaza on 7 October 2023.
