Wed 03 June 2020:

As of today, Avdullah Hoti is the Prime Minister of Kosovo. The vote of the cabinet of the government to be led by him took place today in the Kosovo Parliament.

Out of a total of 86 Members who voted, 61 voted in favor, one abstained and 24 against out of a total of 86 Members took part in the votes.

The new coalition is made up of LDK, AAK, the Social Democratic Initiative and some minor parties.
Therefore, Hoti takes over instead Albin Kurti, who has been the prime minister in office for the past 70 days. The Kurti government fell on March 25 after a no-confidence motion taken by its allies.

After the fall of the Kurti government, the Movement Vetëvendosje (passed as relative majority during the last elections) had asked to return to the vote. But President Thaçi commissioned Avdullah Hoti to form a new government, after waiting for a proposal from the Vetëvendosje Movement.

The latter had appealed to the Constitutional Court in order to obtain new elections but the Court expressed itself in favor of the decision of President Thaçi, thus opening the way for the new government supported by another coalition.

The Vetëvendosje Movement branded this government as illegitimate, while it has already launched a petition to oppose the decision, while protests have also been announced.
