Tue 06 September 2022:
On Tuesday, seven agreements covering a range of topics, including water resources, railways, space technology, judiciary, cooperative scientific and technological research, and TV broadcasting, were signed between India and Bangladesh.
The agreements were signed in New Delhi in the presence of visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hasina is on a four-day state visit.
The two PMs also jointly inaugurated various projects, including a power plant, a railway bridge and several railway line projects.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra told reporters that Modi and Hasina discussed on bilateral issues related to water, trade, economic ties, and regional and global issues.
Modi assured Hasina that India will “continue to walk step by step with Bangladesh in realizing the vision of a stable, prosperous and progressive Bangladesh that Bangabandhu had seen.”
Last year Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Dhaka to participate in the 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence, described the South Asian nation as a “soho jatri” or a co-traveller in the development of the region.
Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Monday. She visited the Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah yesterday. Before leaving for Dhaka on Thursday, she will also pay a visit to the Dargah at Ajmer Sharif.
