BIG WINS FOR HBO AND APPLE TV+ AT THE 2022 EMMY AWARDS

During the 74th annual Emmy Awards ceremony on Monday night in Los Angeles, California, HBO and Apple TV+ took home the top honors, Anandolu Agency reported.

With 25 nominations, HBO’s Succession had the most going into the awards ceremony and won the Outstanding Drama Series Emmy.

Additionally, Matthew Macfayden of Succession took home the prize for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Another popular HBO program, The White Lotus, took home the Outstanding Limited Series Emmy. The awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, respectively, went to Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett. The awards for best writing and best directing went to the show’s creator, Mike White.

Apple TV+ also walked away with one of the top awards of the night, with its hit show Ted Lasso winning the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for the second consecutive year. The show had 20 overall nominations and its stars Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein took home the awards for Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a comedy series, respectively.

Zendaya took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama series for HBO’s Euphoria and Lee Jung-jae scored the Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series for the Netflix hit Squid Game.

Julia Garner won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a drama series for Netflix’s Ozark.

Jean Smart walked away with the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a comedy series for the HBO Max show Hacks, while Sheryl Lee Ralph scored the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series for ABC’s Abbott Elementary.

Michael Keaton won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series for Hulu’s Dopesick, while Amanda Seyfried won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Hulu’s The Dropout. Both Hulu productions were awarded Emmys.

The winner of the Outstanding Variety Talk Series Emmy was Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, while the winner of the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series award was Saturday Night Live.
