Sun 22 September 2024:
Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechnya’s controversial leader, has accused Elon Musk of remotely disabling a Tesla Cybertruck, which he claims was gifted to him by the billionaire. Kadyrov, a staunch ally of President Vladimir Putin, had made modifications to the vehicle, adding a machine gun, and was seen proudly driving it through Grozny in August.
Kadyrov, who has sent Chechen troops to fight in Ukraine, posted on Telegram expressing his outrage. “What Elon Musk did was unbecoming of him,” Kadyrov wrote, branding Musk’s actions as “unmanly.”
Kadyrov said he received a Tesla Cybertrack from Elon Musk. He promised to send it to the “special military operation” zone and attached a machine gun to it.

Tesla Truck Destined for the Frontlines Now Useless, Experts Question Its Utility
Kadyrov had boasted that the vehicle would prove useful on the Ukrainian frontlines due to its “manoeuvrability and crew protection.” However, military experts have debunked these claims, highlighting that despite its futuristic design, the Cybertruck would be ineffective on a real battlefield.
The once mobile vehicle now sits immobile, towed away from the streets of Grozny. Kadyrov lamented, “Why, Elon? What a thing to do!”

Musk Denies Gift Claims, Criticizes Media for Spreading Lies
While Kadyrov insists the truck was a personal gift from Musk, the tech mogul denied the claim, calling it “another example of legacy media lies.” Musk has faced backlash for supposedly cozying up to individuals close to Putin, but he dismissed these accusations as unfounded.
Despite the Cybertruck incident, Kadyrov had previously praised Musk’s Starlink satellite system, even though the service is not available in Russia. Now, with his Cybertruck defunct, the Chechen leader’s admiration for Musk has noticeably cooled.
