Some Afghan migrants in Iran have once again criticized the inappropriate behavior of the country’s authorities. They state that they are facing various challenges in Iran.

Mohammad Akbar, a migrant, said: “The misery that Iran has brought upon Afghan migrants today is alarming. They have blocked our phone SIM cards, we are not given even dry bread, we are not provided with jobs, and we cannot easily leave our homes, living like prisoners.”

Mohammad Khan Talebi Mohammadzi, a migrant rights activist, stated: “The problems of migrants need to be addressed. Both the diplomatic channels and negotiations that could improve the situation should involve our diplomatic apparatus—namely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Refugees—to take action in this matter.”

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate has called on countries hosting Afghan migrants to treat them well and encourage them to return to Afghanistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: “We ask Afghans to consider returning to their country; living in other countries comes with its own problems. We also ask host countries to stop their mistreatment of Afghans and encourage them to return to their homeland.”

On Thursday, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister, during the presentation of the ministry’s annual report, called on the Iranian government to cooperate with Afghan migrants who have contributed to the development of the country with patience and openness.
