Coronavirus (COVID-19) World

Sun 15 March 2020:

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the world, former Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly made a generous move to help in the fight against the disease.

According to Spanish publication Marca, the 35-year-old Juventus forward will transform his hotels in Portugal into hospitals to help fight coronavirus.

The makeshift hospitals will be available free of charge and the Portuguese icon will be the one to fund the doctors and workers there, as per the source.

As all European top leagues were postponed until at least the end of the month due to coronavirus concerns earlier this week, Cristiano also took to social media to warn everyone about the growing threat of the virus.

“The world is going through a very difficult moment which demands the utmost care and attention from all of us,” he tweeted on Friday.

“I speak to you today not as a football player, but as a son, father, a human being concerned with the latest developments that is affecting the whole world.

“It is important we all follow the advice of WHO [World Health Organization] and the governing bodies on how we handle this current situation. Protecting human life must come above any other interests.

“I would like to send my thoughts to everyone who has lost someone close to them, my solidarity to those who are fighting the virus, like my teammate Daniele Rugani, and my continued support to the amazing health professionals putting their own lives at risk to save others. Cristiano Ronaldo.”
