Sat 14 May 2022:

Costa Rica, a Central American country, declared a “emergency” on Saturday as a result of continuous cyberattacks.

The National Emergency Commission, led by President Rodrigo Chavez, declared a state of emergency to better deal with the attacks.

The country’s Finance Ministry claimed its digital systems are still not working correctly, citing substantial material damage caused by hacking.

The attacks were claimed by the Russian-speaking group “Conti.”

The US State Department announced last week that it was offering up to $10 million in rewards for those who will help identify or locate the group’s leaders.

A statement by the Costa Rican Presidency on April 22 stated that there had been a cyberattack on government agencies for a week and that some digital platforms had been disabled.
