Fri 24 December 2021:
Israeli Immigration and Absorption Ministry announced yesterday that a total of 27,050 new immigrants arrived in Israel in 2021, the Times of Israel reported.
This, the paper said, was a 30 per cent increase compared to last year.
According to the data provided by the ministry, the number included 4,000 immigrants from the United States, stating this is the highest figure since 1973.
The data showed that there were 3,500 immigrated from France; the highest number in four years.
Meanwhile, 7,500 immigrants moved from Russia, a ten per cent increase from 2020, and 3,000 from Ukraine.
Some 1,636 immigrants moved to Israel from Ethiopia as part of “Operation Zur Israel”.
Overall, it concluded, immigration rose 30 per cent this year compared to 2020, though it remains below the annual figures recorded in the years preceding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since it was established in 1948, Israel has been expelling Palestinians from their homes, lands, and farms and bringing in Jewish immigrants from around the world to increase its population numbers. Those who move benefit from financial support, free health care, rental assistance, and income tax breaks among other perks.
