US business mogul Elon Musk on Monday firmly denied allegations that he had gifted a Tesla Cybertruck to the head of Russia’s Chechnya region, Ramzan Kadyrov.

“Are you seriously so retarded that you think I donated a Cybertruck to a Russian general?” Musk wrote on his social media platform, X, using a controversial term to express his disbelief. He went on to criticize what he described as the “legacy media” for spreading false information, although the story originated from the messaging app Telegram.

Kadyrov’s Video Sparks Confusion

The confusion began on Saturday when Kadyrov shared a video on Telegram, where he was seen driving a Tesla equipped with what seemed to be a gun turret. In the video, Kadyrov expressed his gratitude to Musk for the vehicle, leading some to mistakenly believe that Musk had personally provided it.

“Elon, thank you! Come to Grozny, I will accept you as my dearest guest! I don’t think our Russian Foreign Ministry will be against such a trip,” Kadyrov wrote, fueling the misunderstanding.

However, it was later clarified that Kadyrov was referring to a vehicle captured during clashes with Ukrainian troops in the ongoing conflict, not a gift from Musk.

“I express my sincere gratitude to Elon Musk! This is, of course, the strongest genius of our time and a specialist. … I literally fell in love with this car,” Kadyrov wrote on Telegram, adding to the drama of the situation.
