FACT CHECK: DID HAMAS FIGHTERS VANDALIZE CHURCH IN GAZA?

Since Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, Social media platforms has been flooded with disinformation and misinformation that has heightened tensions across the globe. Disinformation refers to the deliberate spread of false information, while misinformation is when someone unwittingly spreads or believes the false information to be true.

Against this backdrop, multiple videos depicting the carnage in the current conflict are being circulated on social media. Independent Press will look into some of these viral videos one by one in this article.

Fact Check:

Performing a reverse image search of frames taken from the video on Google. We found that this is an old video from 2017, and same video is uploaded on Daily Mail with an article ” ISIS thugs in the Philippines film sacrilegious rampage as they smash statues, tear up pictures of the Pope then TORCH a Catholic Church in Marawi”.

When ISIS-linked militants overran the southern Philippine city of Marawi and claimed to be holding captives.
