Sun 26 May 2024:
A toddler from Ghana, Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah, has been named the world’s youngest male artist by Guinness World Records (GWR) at the age of one year and 152 days. Ace-Liam has created over a dozen paintings and sold nine of them. His record was confirmed by GWR after a five-month verification process. To qualify, Ace-Liam had to participate in a professional exhibition open to the public and sell his artwork, which had to meet professional standards, with evidence that the paintings were his own work.

Ace-Liam’s mother, Chantelle, also an artist, discovered her son’s passion for painting when he was just six months old. She explained that she initially spread a piece of canvas on the floor with paint to keep him busy, and he ended up creating his first piece, titled “The Crawl.” Since then, he has gained significant attention, including from Ghana’s First Lady, and has sparked conversations about art appreciation.
Ace-Liam took part in his first group exhibition, The Soundout Premium Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Technology in Ghana, displaying and selling nine out of his ten artworks. Chantelle described his painting process as spontaneous and mood-driven, lasting from half an hour to a couple of days, with Ace-Liam declaring “mama finish” when he was done.
Following his record achievement, his family is seeking opportunities to nurture his talent through quality education and international scholarships. Chantelle advises parents to encourage and support their children’s interests, highlighting that nurturing their passions can lead to remarkable discoveries and achievements.
