◼️ Easter panic: The projected fuel prices continue to spike, with the latest data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) showing that motorists could be paying more than R10 per litre for diesel, marking the first time in the country’s history. The Citizen visited a few service stations where long queues of motorists were waiting to fill up their cars’ tanks. Some fuel stations had run dry, but were expecting delivery on Monday.

◼️ Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu ‘resumes his ANC work’: Mkhwanazi further claimed Mchunu had ties to crime syndicates, controversial businessman Vusumusi ‘Cat’ Matlala. Last week, Mchunu wrote to the ANC asking to resume his duties as an NEC member – this was confirmed by his private spokesperson Sithembiso Mshengu on Sunday. In terms of the ANC’s step aside policy, once a member is criminally charged, he or she must stop representing the party both in government and political platforms.

However, some residents across major metros are reporting that their meters are being wrongly flagged, cut off, and fined, with some having to pay R73,000 to have their meters returned and electricity reconnected.
