◼️ G-20 Summit Will Move On Without US: “We believe that the countries that are present here must be able to take a decision and adopt a declaration,” Ronald Lamola, South Africa’s foreign minister, told the inaugural Bloomberg Africa Business Summit in the city on Tuesday ahead of the meeting of heads of state. “We do not believe the absence of the US should paralyze the G-20.”

◼️ Singapore snares record haul of smuggled rhino horns from SA: The haul was found earlier this month in a shipment of four pieces of cargo declared as furniture fittings, and also contained around 150 kg of other animal parts, including bones, teeth and claws. Authorities said investigations showed the horns belonged to white rhinoceroses and originated from South Africa.

◼️ International airlines mull canning flights: International airlines are considering cancelling their flights to the Mother City after jet-fuel suppliers have been unable to access a fuel terminal at the Cape Town Port for a month. Fuel suppliers said they had been unable to supply to the Cape Town International Airport, amid an ongoing “confidential matter” with the SA Revenue Service.

◼️ Right move: Transport minister Barbara Creecy says extending the driving licence validity period for ordinary citizens to eight years is the right move. However, motorists driving buses, taxis, or those with a heavy vehicle licence to drive a truck should renew their licences every two years.
