Thu 28 November 2024:

Hezbollah announced yesterday evening that at least 130 Israeli soldiers have been killed with more than 1,250 wounded since the occupation army began its failed ground offensive in Lebanon on 1 October. The statement marks the resistance movement’s first comments following a US and French-brokered ceasefire, which took effect early yesterday.

“The Islamic Resistance was able to achieve victory over the delusional enemy which was unable to undermine our resolve or break our will,” said Hezbollah’s operations room. It reported that the movement had conducted 4,637 operations against Israel since October 2023, with 1,600 in the past year alone.

Hezbollah claimed that the occupation forces failed to establish operational control or create a buffer zone in southern Lebanon, withdrawing three times from towns such as Khiyam, Ainatha and Bint Jbeil. Israeli losses included 59 tanks, several other vehicles and drones, all when reportedly inside Lebanese territory.

Under the ceasefire agreement, based on the 2006 UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the Israeli army will withdraw from southern Lebanon within 60 days, as the Lebanese National Army deploys in border areas. Hezbollah has agreed to move its forces north of the Litani River, allowing Lebanese troops to assume sole control, conditioned on Israeli compliance with the resolution.

The war, which began with cross-border exchanges of missile fire in October 2023, left nearly 20,000 Lebanese civilians killed or wounded. Hezbollah has reiterated its ongoing commitment to resist the occupation state: “Our mujahideen, who relied on God Almighty, thwarted the enemy’s objectives and defeated his army. Our hands remain on the trigger.”
