In Matthew McConaughey’s new memoir Greenlights, the actor has revealed he was sexually abused when he was 15 years old.
In his biography, which was released on Tuesday, the actor describes events and experiences throughout his life as green, yellow or red lights – things that made him advance, pause or stop, reports Insider.
One such instance includes sexual abused – “I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was 15,” he says.
He writes: “I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex. Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case,” he continues.
The Gentlemen actor mentions a second incidence, reports People, saying he was “molested by a man when [he] was 18 while knocked unconscious in the back of a van”. Of the incident, he adds: “I’ve never felt like a victim. I have a lot of proof that the world is conspiring to make me happy.”
He shared details of the turbulent relationship between his parents, his marriage to Camila Alves, and his personal philosophy in the book.
