ISRAEL HAS KILLED AT LEAST 12,800 PALESTINIAN STUDENTS SINCE OCTOBER 2023

The Palestinian Authority ministry of education has said that the ongoing Israeli offensive in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza Strip has killed 12,800 Palestinians students since October 2023. With 600 teachers and administrators killed and 3,800 wounded, the casualty figures, said the ministry, are “horrifying”.

In a statement on Tuesday, reports the Palestinian Information Centre, the ministry said that most of the casualties were in Gaza, where 12,681 students have been killed and 20,311 others have been wounded.

The ministry also pointed out that 425 government schools, universities and other educational facilities in Gaza had been bombed during the same period, with 171 being damaged “considerably” and 77 destroyed completely.

It noted that 65 UNRWA schools are among those that were bombed by the Israeli occupation army in Gaza, while 109 other schools and seven universities were reportedly ransacked by Israeli forces in the West Bank.

The ministry affirmed that 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip are still deprived of education, while most suffer from psychological trauma and other health issues.
