ISRAELI ARMY RELEASES VIDEO IT SAYS SHOWS SINWAR IN TUNNEL

The Israeli army has released a video purporting to show Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar with what the Israeli army says is his family – two children and a woman – walking through a tunnel on October 6, 2023, a day before the Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel.

The video is divided into several clips edited together. The first segment of the video shows Sinwar with two children and a woman, all carrying bags.

The following sections purport to show the Hamas leader doing several rounds up and down the tunnel to carry more bags and bottles of water.

The final clips show Sinwar with one of the two children carrying what looks like a pillow and a mattress.

The time stamp at the start of the video says it was 10:44pm (19:44 GMT).

The military said the footage was found a few months ago.

As part of the same statement from the Israeli army, there is also a video purporting to show the moment Sinwar was killed on Wednesday by Israeli soldiers on patrol in southern Gaza.

The video shows tank shells and machine gun fire hitting a building. The army said Sinwar was fleeing from building to building with two other fighters when they were spotted by Israeli soldiers.

The ensuing fire made the group split up with Sinwar taking refuge in a building alone, the army said. A reconnaissance drone later spotted a man with a badly wounded hand trying to knock down the drone with a stick. His body was found and identified on Thursday.

A final picture shows what the Israeli army said is a tunnel in the Tal as-Sultan area where Sinwar had stayed. It shows at least two single beds, chairs and clothes hung on the wall.
