Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Political Deputy Prime Minister of Taliban, called on neighboring countries to refrain from actions that disrupt security and stability in the region, Ariana news reported.

“Regional [countries] should refrain from provocative actions and remarks that disrupt the security and stability of the region and destroy the spirit of cooperation. The Islamic Emirate is not in favor of war and crisis, but as a legitimate government, it has the responsibility of defending its soil and people, and it will spare no efforts in fulfilling this responsibility,” he said at a ceremony to celebrate Independence Day.

Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Political Deputy Prime Minister of Taliban.

Kabir claimed that in the past one hundred years, no ruler addressed the root causes of the problems.

He went on to say that the Islamic Emirate has been successful in the areas of politics, economy and war, and it has adopted an economy-focused foreign policy.

He said that the Islamic Emirate, considering the strategic location of Afghanistan, aims to make the country a transit hub between Central Asia and South Asia.

Meanwhile, Khairullah Khairkhah, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, said: “Don’t people know that today there is no discrimination on linguistic, ethnicity or provincial grounds. Today, warlords who would do anything for power do not exist. Rules, laws and sharia are in force.”

Construction of wall along Afghanistan border

Iranian authorities have said construction of a wall closing about 300 km of border with Afghanistan is on track and good progress is being made.

Brigadier General Sirous Amanollahi, who was visiting the border project on Sunday, told IRNA that sealing the border with Afghanistan would ensure sustainable security along Iran’s easter borders.

Iranian officials have said in the past that closing the borders will prevent the illegal entry of migrants, insurgents, and drug and fuel smugglers.

Amanollahi noted that the project has made good progress, and said he hoped it would be finished by soon.

The border project involves the construction of a wall that stretches 295 km and the border with Afghanistan.

The wall, expected to cost just over $3 billion, will be four-meters high and will include fences on its top. In July, officials said the wall would take three years to be completed.
