WITH 687,000 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, A NEW YORK FAMILY BREAKS THEIR OWN GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

Mon 06 December 2021: Creating a world record for a one-of-a-kind thing is memorable, but breaking your own world record again is driven by a desire to be even better.  This is true for the Gay family of Hudson Valley, New York. This family broke their own world record for the most Christmas lights on a residential property with a display of 687,000 lights. This family set the Guinness World Record for the most bulbs in a single day for the first time in 2014, with 601,736 bulbs. Since then, they have been making concerted efforts to break the record. According to the Albany Times-Union, the family also hopes to raise $500,000 for the fire department and local charities from visitors to the drive-through display they set up this year. The massive displays are created by Tim Gay, Grace Gay, and their three grown children.
