Mon 23 September 2024:
More than 40,000 Israelis have left the country in the first seven months of 2024, according to official data.
The private Hebrew Channel 13 quoted the Israeli Bureau of Statistics as reporting a significant increase in the number of Israelis who have left the country this year compared to 2023, almost a year since Israel started its genocidal bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip.
As the Gaza war intensifies, a significant number of Israelis are leaving the country, seeking safety and stability abroad. With ongoing rocket attacks, heightened military operations, and fears of prolonged conflict, many citizens have opted to relocate, either temporarily or permanently, to avoid the escalating violence.

The conflict, which has seen a surge in hostilities between Israel and Gaza-based Hamas, has left many Israelis feeling vulnerable. Despite Israel’s advanced defense systems, including the Iron Dome, the constant threat of rocket fire and the potential for ground invasions has pushed some to explore opportunities outside the country.
While the Israeli government continues its military campaign, citizens leaving the country have cited concerns about the long-term impact of the war on their safety, economy, and quality of life.
Preliminary data from the department also showed that only 27,800 have returned to Israel in that period, including those who had left the country and returned and those who immigrated to Israel for the first time, according to the Anadolu Agency.
In 2023, about 55,300 people emigrated from Israel, compared to about 27,000 who chose to return or immigrate to the country, while in 2022, some 38,000 Israelis emigrated, and 23,000 returned or immigrated to Israel.
