Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency has apprehended another Chinese gang involved in human trafficking in Rawalpindi.
The agency’s human trafficking cell, led by Deputy Director Nadeem Zafar, has arrested 14 Chinese nationals in an intelligence-based operation while recovering three Pakistani women as well.
The detained individuals were allegedly involved in trafficking Pakistani women through sham marriages. Reportedly, one of the girls recovered by FIA is not even of legal age. She revealed that she married a Chinese national, who claimed to be Muslim on the internet. However, it later turned out that the man is an atheist.
The agency also recovered weapons, illicit medicines, gold ornaments, and Chinese passports in the raid. As per the details, the accused deceived Pakistani families by marrying their girls with the help of local agents. Later, the girls were forced into prostitution or selling organs after being trafficked to China. The Chinese embassy has also responded to the reports of cross-national marriages. It said, “Chinese laws and regulations strictly prohibited cross-national matchmaking centers and we hope that the public does not believe in misleading information and work together to safeguard China-Pakistan friendship”.

Nonetheless, the FIA has arrested at least 27 Chinese nationals till date in the crackdown.
