Thu 14 October 2021:
After Israel agreed to a new distribution method involving the United Nations, tens of thousands of needy people in the besieged Gaza Strip began receiving Qatari humanitarian funds on Thursday.
Money recipients have been queuing since the early hours of the morning outside 300 distribution stations around the Hamas-ruled Palestinian enclave.

The $100 handouts would be distributed through the international body to “95,000 needy families” in Gaza, according to Qatari envoy Mohammed al-Emadi.
Qatar’s assistance is seen as a lifeline for impoverished Palestinians in Gaza, which has been under Israeli blockade since 2007.
The U.N.’s special coordinator for the Middle East peace process said the distribution would continue “throughout this week.”
Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007, a year after winning Palestinian legislative elections. With Egypt’s assistance, Israel quickly blocked Gaza’s borders, and little may now enter or leave without Israeli permission.
