According to media reports, the US District Court for the District of Columbia condemned American citizen Jacob Chansley, also known as the “QAnon Shaman,” to 41 months in prison for his role in the January 6 Capitol incident.

Chansley, a 34-year-old Arizona man, was among those that stormed the US Capitol building and made their way to the Upper West Terrace, where election certification operations were taking place.

Chansley initially faced up to 20 years in prison and a period of supervised release, but in September he pleaded guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding.

According to reports, federal prosecutors requested the judge at the hearing to sentence Chansley to 51 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $2,000 fine.

Due to his extravagant attire, which included bull horns and a fur helmet, the defendant became the most well-known riot participant. He was arrested on January 9 and has been detained since then.

On January 6, a gathering of Trump supporters protested lawmakers confirming the 2020 election results. Trump claimed that the election results in multiple US states were tainted by fraud, depriving him of victory. During the incident, Capitol police shot and killed one demonstrator and charged over 500 people for taking part in the event.
