Al Thani to arrive in Islamabad on Saturday to discuss economic partnership with Pakistani premier
Amir of Qatar will pay a two-day state visit to Pakistan this weekend, Islamabad said on Friday. “Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is visiting Pakistan on June 22-23 on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” a foreign ministry statement said. Durning his stay in Islamabad, Al Thani will hold talks with Khan and President Arif Alvi to “discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership”.
Several memorandums of understanding or agreements “for enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas” are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Qatar. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs didn’t explain the details of expected agreements between Doha and Islamabad. Earlier Pakistani officials claimed that the Qatari Amir likely to announce major investment in Pakistan during his visit to Islamabad. He will be accompanied by a high level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials of his cabinet, read the statement. Al Thani previously visited Pakistan in March 2015.
