Tue 13 September 2022:
Britain has not extended invitations to officials from Russia, Belarus, or Myanmar to attend the state burial for Queen Elizabeth scheduled for next Monday, a Whitehall source said, Reuters reported.
In reaction to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, Britain and its Western allies have sought to isolate Russia and its partner Belarus on the international scene through economic sanctions and other measures.
British sanctions have been imposed on Myanmar and its military as London increases aid to the Rohingya minority in the Southeast Asian nation.
About 500 foreign dignitaries are expected to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in London, with invites having been sent to the heads of state of most countries with which Britain has diplomatic relations, the BBC said.
A large number of world leaders from the U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, as well as the prime ministers of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, have all confirmed their attendance at the event, which is expected to be one of the greatest diplomatic meetings in Britain in years.
