REFORM UK OVERTAKES LABOUR TO BECOME BRITAIN’S LARGEST POLITICAL PARTY BY MEMBERSHIP

UK‌ Labour have lost more than 100,000 members since the General Election – and more than half their total since before Keir Starmer was appointed leader.

The leaked figures, reported in The Times, state that Labour have fallen below 250,000 paid-up members. Before Starmer became leader, they had more than half a million and were the largest party in Europe.

The last public update showed Labour had 333,235 members at the end of 2024. They had around 370,000 members at the beginning of that year, and 532,046 at the end of 2019 under Jeremy Corbyn.

The dramatic fall in Labour’s membership numbers suggests that Nigel Farage’s Reform have overtaken them as the largest party in the UK.

The party’s live membership ticker, which they insist is generally accurate, currently sits on 268,864.

It also states, “At 309,000 we will overtake Labour’s membership and become the largest political party in the UK.”

However, the new reports suggest they have already done so.

Farage told The Times, “As we have suspected for some time, Reform is now the largest political party in British politics – a huge milestone for us. The age of two-party politics is dead.”

Earlier this week, the Green Party in England and Wales announced it had hit 180,000 members.

The Tories had 131,000 members when Kemi Badenoch was elected leader. The Telegraph reported in July that the figure had since fallen to 123,000.

The SNP, who only stand for election in Scotland, had 58,940 members as of December 31, 2024, down from 64,525 last summer.

Last week, the Scottish Greens announced they had hit a record-high membership of 9235.

A Labour Party spokesperson said, “Our membership figures are published in our annual report. We do not give a running commentary on them throughout the year.”
