#Romanovs100 won Best Images, beating notable campaigns by Alexander McQueen, Pantone & NFL. Just last week the project also won two golds for “Best Original Music” and “Best Digital Special Event,” silver in “Camerawork” and “Art Direction,” as well as bronze in “Video Art & Experimental Film” for a VR animated music video at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.
#Romanovs100 is a large-scale, multi-platform project launched by RT to mark the centenary of the execution of the last Russian royal family. Produced in collaboration with the State Archive of Russia, is was played out across four platforms – YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Over the course of 100 days, rare archival photographs from the Romanovs’ personal collection were published across the project’s accounts. They represent the most complete collection to date of photos taken by the royal family.

The same team won two Shortys in 2018 with #1917LIVE: ‘Best in Education’ and ‘Best in Twitter partnership.’ This year, the RT360 app also received the highest honor at the Shortys for ‘Best in Photo & Video Sites & Apps,’ while RT’s news agency Ruptly took gold for its live coverage of the Yellow Vest protests in France.
So far, #Romanovs100 is the proud owner of 12 awards: among them a Clio Entertainment, Drum Content & Drum Social Buzz and a PromaxBDA Europe. Shortlisted for the ‘Oscars of the internet,’ the Webby Awards, #Romanovs100 is awaiting the results to be announced on April 23.
