Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday it was lifting all coronavirus-related restrictions, effective immediately at the recommendation of health authorities.
In a statement, the Interior Ministry highlighted the Kingdom’s success in combating the pandemic, crediting it to the unlimited support accorded by the leadership and the successful vaccination campaign.
Restrictions will be lifted at all mosques throughout the Kingdom, ending all social distancing measures. People will still be required to wear face masks.
Social distancing measures will also be lifted at all public spaces and various activities and events. Wearing masks will no longer be mandatory outdoors, but they will be required indoors before taking a rapid antigen test of PCR.
People wishing to travel to Saudi Arabia will no longer be demanded to present a negative COVID-19 test. They will also no longer be required to quarantine upon their arrival in the Kingdom.
All travel bans from the Kingdom to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Mauritius, Zambia, Madagascar, Angola, the Seychelles, the Comoros, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Afghanistan will also be lifted.
The Interior Ministry stressed that people should continue to take the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the third (booster) shot.
