SENEGAL WIN AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS AFTER BEATING EGYPT

The final between Senegal and Egypt was remained 0-0 after extra time, but Senegal held their calm to beat Egypt on penalties and win their first ever Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

When Senegal edged Egypt in possession and talisman Sadio Mané was awarded a penalty, it appeared like Senegal would go ahead and stay ahead – but Egyptian goalie Gabaski stopped it, and the game remained goalless for the rest of the game.

Senegal had a strong attack but was unable to break through the Pharaohs’ defenses. Egypt had moments of brilliance, particularly when Mo Salah had the ball, but it appeared that they were playing for penalties. When it came to the penalty kick showdown, Senegal held their cool while Egypt lost theirs — and that was the end of it.
