Tue 05 October 2021:
In Kosovo, an ethnic Serb was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The individual, who was only recognized by his initials G.S., was convicted guilty of participating in a massacre during the Kosovo war.
In April 1999, Serb army, police, and paramilitary forces raided the villages of Sllovi and Terbovc in the Lipjan commune, according to the court in Pristina.
G.S. was identified as one of the paramilitary members that, in three different occasions, killed 12 Kosovar Albanian males after forcibly invading their homes and pushing women and children away.
The court heard that in one occasion, they forced the wife and daughter of one of the executed Albanians to watch the execution.
In other cases, they shot ethnic Albanians inside their homes or as they fled to the nearby mountains to seek refuge. In 2019, G.S. was apprehended.
“With these crimes, he has committed war crimes against the population in cooperation with others,” said the verdict.
