Sat 21 September 2024:
The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) and the Kuwait Society for Relief (KSR) plan to send a humanitarian aid ship containing 2,400 tonnes to Sudan.
According to an Anadolu Agency correspondent, the ship will set sail from Mersin Port in southern Turkiye on Friday after completing the necessary procedures.
In a speech during the ship’s launching ceremony in Mersin Port, Sudanese Ambassador to Ankara Nader Youssef Al-Tayeb expressed his deep gratitude to all contributors for providing humanitarian aid to his country.
Al-Tayeb pointed out that about 8,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been sent from Turkiye to Sudan over the past three months.

He stressed his country’s urgent need for such aid, adding that the Sudanese people and government will not forget this support.
In turn, Emre Kaya, a member of the IHH board of directors, confirmed they are meeting on Friday to send a new humanitarian aid ship to an oppressed geographical area.
Kaya pointed out that the IHH, in cooperation with the KSR, sent an aid ship to Gaza a month ago.
KSR Director Abdul Aziz Al-Obaid stated that they will continue to send more humanitarian aid to Sudan in the future.
In mid-April 2023, war broke out between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, killing more than 20,000 and resulting in ten million displaced and refugeed, according to the United Nations.
International calls are escalating to end this war to spare Sudan. This humanitarian catastrophe has begun to push millions to famine and death due to food shortages as a result of the fighting that has spread to 13 out of 18 states.
