Fri 14 March 2025:
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence Prince Khalid Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz and his Turkish counterpart Yasar Guler met on Tuesday in Riyadh and discussed bilateral relations and explored opportunities to strengthen military and defence cooperation, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
SPA said the two ministers reviewed prospects for developing their partnership in the field of defence, including training, military manufacturing and the exchange of expertise.
They also discussed regional and international developments and efforts to enhance security and stability.
The meeting was attended by a number of military officials from both sides.
Saudi-Turkish relations have improved significantly in various fields over the past few years, most notably in the military sector.
In January, Bloomberg reported that Ankara hopes to conclude a $6 billion defence deal with Riyadh, which would include the purchase of warships, tanks and missile systems.
If concluded, the deal would be the largest in Turkish military industry history and could be finalised during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the kingdom, which is expected to take place later this month.
