Wed 23 October 2024:

Ahead of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, commencing today, TV BRICS has launched an Arabic version of its news portal, extending its reach to Arabic-speaking audiences. Arabic is now the sixth language offered by the network, joining Russian, English, Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish.

“TV BRICS, as a member of the organising committee for Russia’s BRICS presidency in 2024, is focusing on strengthening cooperation among member countries in the field of media communications,” said Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS International Media Network.

“Given the growing interest from Latin America and the Arab world, we have started full-scale work in both Spanish and Arabic.”

The Arabic portal will feature international news, articles and interviews, as well as special projects to introduce the BRICS+ countries and build connections among experts. In addition, TV BRICS plans to launch a separate Arabic-language TV channel.

TV BRICS is also preparing for the upcoming BRICS and G20 summits in Russia and Brazil, respectively. The network recently launched the BRICS & G20 media project across its six languages, featuring video stories and exclusive interviews with experts, public figures and officials.

During the Kazan summit, which ends on Thursday, TV BRICS will cover events and broadcast the best films and programmes from its international partners, including features on Chinese cuisine, Indian traditions, Brazilian agriculture, Russian small towns and Venezuelan scientific achievements.

“We have prepared extensively for the summit in Kazan,” added Tolstikova. “Our focus is on supporting the meeting of state leaders in Russia, with plans to sign several media cooperation agreements at the summit.”

The expansion of TV BRICS into the Arab world comes as several Arab states have joined or expressed interest in joining BRICS. Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt have already joined and Bahrain is also considering membership while Algeria announced earlier this month it had ended its bid to join the economic group.
