Elon Musk, a US billionaire entrepreneur and the brand-new owner of Twitter, announced on Sunday that the social media platform plans to expand the maximum character count for tweets from 280 to 4,000.
Musk announced on November 6 that lengthier posts would soon be possible on the social networking site.
“Yes,” Musk said when asked by a user if Twitter was going to increase the number of characters to 4,000.
Right now, Twitter users’ are limited to 280 characters per post, so they have to attach photos with a large amount of text to their publications.
In late October, Musk finalized the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Following the takeover, Musk changed the company’s day-to-day operations, including the termination of Twitter executives who were responsible for the platform’s privacy, cybersecurity and censorship, as well as about two-thirds of Twitter’s employees.
Twitter Blue coming back this week with a high price for iOS
Twitter Inc. announced in a tweet on Saturday that it will relaunch a revised version of its subscription service Twitter Blue on Monday at a higher cost for Apple customers.
According to the firm, users can subscribe to the updated service for $8 per month for the web and $11 per month for Apple iOS, which will allow users to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, and receive a blue checkmark upon account verification. Despite media claims that the firm was exploring for ways to offset costs levied in the App Store, Twitter could not explain why Apple customers were charged more than other users on the web.
US company Twitter was founded in 2006. Its main product is a social network for exchanging short messages. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
