Elon Musk’s proposed takeover of Twitter has taken a number of unexpected turns. The $44 billion purchase was apparently done, but Musk made a dramatic U-turn and opted not to go through with it, claiming that a large percentage of Twitter users are fraudulent.
Following weeks of uncertainty, the Washington Post claimed that the Twitter board of directors is ready to disclose internal data with Musk in order to clear up any misunderstandings concerning phony users. According to the source, the massive amount of data sent to Musk will include more than 500 million tweets every day.
According to the article, the data sent to Musk will comprise tweets, data on the devices from which the tweet was made, and extra account information.
Access to the data is seen as a critical step in eventually figuring exactly what happened with the Twitter takeover. Musk decided to put the deal on hold until he got more definite information about the phony users, which could force him to finish the takeover.
Musk’s lawyers have previously complained about Twitter’s lack of transparency, but this move will allow the Tesla CEO to extensively examine the data to determine the presence of fraudulent users.
According to the the official statement from Twitter, “Twitter has and will continue to cooperatively share information with Mr. Musk to consummate the transaction in accordance with the terms of the merger agreement. We believe this agreement is in the best interest of all shareholders. We intend to close the transaction and enforce the merger agreement at the agreed price and terms..”
