Thu 09 December 2021:

Allegra Stratton, a close adviser to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has quit after a video of her went viral. At a simulated press briefing, Stratton is seen answering questions from her colleague. She’s seen talking about a “fictitious” gathering that wasn’t “socially separated.”

The party took place in the year 2020, when Britain was put on lockdown and millions of people were forbidden from celebrating Christmas with their close relatives and friends.

Stratton told reporters during his press conference, “My remarks seemed to make light of the rules, rules that people were doing everything to obey. That was never my intention. I will regret those remarks for the rest of my days.”

“I understand the anger and frustration that people feel. To all of you who lost loved ones, who endured intolerable loneliness and who struggled with your businesses, I am truly sorry and this afternoon I am offering my resignation to the Prime Minister.”

In response, Johnson promised “disciplinary action,” as well as an internal investigation into the leaked tape. He even expressed regret. Despite his apologies, Johnson denied that a party was held at No. 10 Downing Street.

“I understand and share the anger up and down the country at seeing No 10 staff seeming to make light of lockdown measures,” he said.

“I apologise unreservedly for the offence that it has caused… and I apologise for the impression that it gives.”

Meanwhile, as the number of Covid cases continues to rise amid fears of a new variant, Johnson has imposed further limitations in an attempt to stem the spread of the deadly virus. Vaccine passports have been made mandatory for venues with large crowds as part of ‘Plan B.’ Work-from-home guidelines have also been released.

Masks are now required in “most public indoor venues, including theater and cinemas,” according to the administration.
