Tue 09 November 2021:
The UK government stated Monday that China’s Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines, as well as India’s Covaxin vaccine, will be added to the country’s approved list of COVID vaccinations for incoming travel.
“From 4am Monday 22 November, COVID-19 vaccines on the WHO EUL will be recognized and all under-18s coming to England will be treated as fully vaccinated at the border,” it said in a statement.
Passengers who have been completely vaccinated and acquired their vaccine certificate from one of over 135 recognized countries and territories are not needed to undergo a pre-departure test, day 8 test, or self-isolate upon arrival in the United Kingdom.
Instead, passengers will only be required to pay for a lateral flow test before the end of their second day after arriving.
The latest directive, according to British Health Secretary Sajid Javid, is a step forward for the travel sector, businesses, and family and friends looking to reconnect or travel overseas.
“The red list and quarantine system remain vital in protecting our borders, and as we’ve said, we will not hesitate to take action by adding countries to the red list if necessary,” he added.
