A video is doing the rounds on social media in which popular former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad can be seen brandishing a sword as he claims to show solidarity with Kashmiris.
While Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan continues to highlight the Kashmir issue, another Pakistani cricket captain has now gone viral for spewing vitriol against India.
A video is doing the rounds on social media in which popular former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad can be seen brandishing a sword as he claims to show solidarity with Kashmiris.
In what can be seen as a demonstration, Miandad, wearing the Pakistan cricket team’s jersey, can be heard saying that if he can wield a bat, he can also wield a sword.
“Kashmir bhaiyo fikar mat karo hum aapke saath hai. Mere paas balla bhi hai, pehle chakka maara tha, ab yeh [sword] bhi hai (Kashmiri brothers don’t worry. We are with you. Earlier I used a bat to hit a six, now I can use this sword)” Javed Miandad said.
Former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad threatening India while holding a sword: Pehle main balle se chakka marta tha, ab talwar se insaan maaronga (If I can hit six with a bat, why can’t I swing sword.. I used to hit sixes with bat, now I’ll kill humans with sword)… pic.twitter.com/blmK1XnbKS

As Miandad sheathes the sword in his hand, a voice in the background can be heard saying, “Balla bhi tez tha ab talwar bhi tez hai. (The bat was sharp, now the sword is sharp)”
To this, Javed Miandad proudly shows off his sword again and exclaims that if he can use a bat to hit a six, he can use the sword to kill a man. “Jab main balle se chakka maar sakta hoon tu iss [talwar] se insaan kyu nahin maar sakta, (if I can hit a sixer with a bat, can’t I kill a man with a sword)” is his smug admission.
This is not the first time Javed Miandad has made remarks. He had previously too bayed for blood, asking Kashmiris to pick up arms. After India decided to abrogate Article 370 which gives special power to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Miandad had claimed that the Indian government is a “coward” and that Pakistan has not kept a nuclear arsenal for show but to deploy on India. “Hume mauka chahiye aur hum saaf kar denge (we just need a chance, we will wipe out India)” he told the media.
Earlier, the former Pakistan cricketer also said he will visit the Line of Control (LOC) with other sportspersons to propagate peace at the border. “I will go to the border for peace. I will call all the top people, the sportspeople and everyone. I will go there and tell everyone about peace. I will go with a peace flag. If these things did not stop then I will go border with anyone who will join me and after going there I will tell people that we want peace and we are with Kashmiri people,” Miandad said in a video he posted on his Twitter handle.
However, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik had dismissed his claim. “We don’t care about that. We have abrogated Article 370, and you will see in the coming days, we will work so much for the people of Kashmir, and create such circumstances, that people of Pakistan occupied Kashmir will start saying — see, that [Jammu and Kashmir] is the ideal place to live.”
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated after New Delhi on August 5 revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcated it into two union territories.
Reacting to India’s move on Kashmir, Pakistan downgraded its diplomatic ties with New Delhi and expelled the Indian High Commissioner.
