In their first debate since the 2020 election, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump exchanged sharp barbs on a range of issues including global conflicts, immigration, and US democracy. Held at CNN’s studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the debate took place unusually early in the election cycle, before either candidate has been officially nominated by their party.
Polls show Biden and Trump in a tight race ahead of the November 5 elections. Critics particularly noted Biden’s performance as lackluster.
