Mon 05 August 2024:
WhatsApp, Meta’s popular messaging app, is launching a new feature allowing users to organize events within their group chats, as reported by WABetaInfo. Previously available only in community group chats, this functionality is now being extended to regular group chats.
The feature is part of the “WhatsApp for iOS 24.15.79” update, enabling users to easily create and manage events in any group chat. The update is available on the App Store and allows users to input event details such as name, description, date, optional location, and choose between a voice or video call.
Participants who accept the event invite will receive notifications when the event starts. All event details are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring only group chat members can access the information, maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
The official changelog notes that the feature will be gradually rolled out, with some accounts receiving it in the coming weeks.

Upcoming Features
In addition to event management, WhatsApp is testing a new “double-tap message reactions” feature, similar to Instagram DMs. Currently in beta testing for Android, users can join the WhatsApp Android beta program through the Play Store, though invitations are limited and slots fill up quickly.
