Sat 21 October 2023:

On iOS and Android, users will now be able to respond to status updates using their avatars thanks to a new feature being released by Meta-owned WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, the company hopes to increase user engagement with status updates by giving customers another way to interact with their contacts and make replaying to updates even more dynamic.

As per the report, users have the option to select from eight different avatars to reply to status updates.

Some beta testers who install the most recent WhatsApp beta versions for iOS and Android can access this functionality.

In addition, some beta testers can also reply to status updates by using an animated version of the avatars available in the set, a feature that was not available during the development, the report confirmed.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has rolled out  a new feature that will allow users to have two WhatsApp accounts logged in at the same time.

In a blog post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that WhatsApp users would soon be able to log in to two accounts at the same time.

“Switch between two accounts on WhatsApp. Soon you’ll be able to have two WhatsApp accounts on one phone within the app,” he announced.

The feature will be rolling out to Android users in the coming weeks and months.

“Now you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones or worry about messaging from the wrong place,” said the company.

To set up a second account, you will need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM.

Simply open your WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your name, and click “Add account”.

You can control your privacy and notification settings on each account, according to the company.

“As a reminder, only use the official WhatsApp and don’t download imitations or fake versions as a way of getting more accounts on your phone. Your messages are only secure and private when using the official WhatsApp,” the Meta-owned platform said.
